The series of activities include a Rift Walk in Naivasha (October 18), the Fashion for Polio fundraiser in Kitengela (October 18), the District Walk in Nairobi (October 25), a Polio Walk on Mfangano Island (October 20) and a Football Match in Nairobi (October 26).
Rotary District 9212 continues to play its part in this historic fight. Across Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea, and South Sudan, clubs are mobilizing communities, raising funds, and supporting vaccination campaigns in partnership with Ministries of Health and frontline workers.
In Ethiopia, for example, nationwide nOPV2 campaigns have targeted millions of children under five, protecting them from circulating polioviruses. In Kenya, Rotary’s advocacy and fundraising have helped expand immunization outreach to hard-to-reach areas, ensuring that no child is left behind.

Rotary District 9212 is marking the day, which is commemorated on October 24, with a series of activities including a Rift Walk in Naivasha (October 18), the Fashion for Polio fundraiser in Kitengela (October 18), the District Walk in Nairobi (October 25), a Polio Walk on Mfangano Island (October 20), and a Football Match in Nairobi (October 26). Each event highlights Rotary’s steadfast promise to make polio history.
Rotary District 9212 will join millions of Rotarians, health workers, and partners worldwide in reaffirming its commitment to end polio for every child, everywhere. Polio, or poliomyelitis, is a paralyzing and potentially deadly infectious disease that most commonly affects children under the age of five. The virus spreads from person to person, typically through contaminated water. It can then attack the nervous system.

World Polio Day is a time for the family of Rotary, public health advocates and all who want a world free from polio to come together, recognize our progress in the fight to end polio, and talk about the actions we need to take in order to end polio for good.
