The Rotary Club of Ongata Rongai East in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Spokane 21 in the USA and Entomononi Maasai Women CBO will commission a water project that will benefit 400 homesteads, schools, churches, and livestock is Kisamis, Kajiado County.

``The goal is to provide safe, reliable drinking water to Kisamis community (Kajiado County, Kenya) through a borehole, solar-powered pumping system, storage tanks, water kiosks, cattle troughs, and laundry facilities,’’ The Rotary Club of Ongata Rongai East President John Hinga said.

Kisamis area is arid, with no reliable water sources. Existing boreholes are unsuitable because they are either private or contaminated. The land was donated by a local family and ownership transferred to trustees of a community-based organization.

Community Engagement was conducted through Public barazas held with local leaders, government officials, and community members. Eventually a Rotary Community Corps (RCC) comprising 13 members and five new trustees were appointed to ensure transparency and ownership. An RCC is a group of non-Rotarians who plan and carry out projects in their communities in collaboration with a Rotary club.
