More than 100 Rotarians, members of the local county government, environmentalists, students, community based organizations, private sector and NGO’s – participated in the tree planting exercise - broadcasting an example of shared accountability towards the preservation of our environment. Their joint appearance on the riverbank outlined the importance of inclusive partnerships as a means to bring about meaningful environmental action.
In addition to the tree planting, the day represented harmony, solidarity, and an upward trend of individual efforts to protect natural resources via local leadership and participation of citizens. The reclaiming of One Acre River is more than a one-day event as the Rotaract Club of Bahati, is dedicated to the nurturing, protecting and growing of the trees.
The success of this project is a testament of what is possible when a community and partners come together in a cause that has the support of like-minded individuals. The Rotaract Club of Bahati owes all the warmest thanks to all the stakeholders both local leaders, CBOs, Private sector, environmental champions as well as students, families and friends whose involvement made this vision a reality.
