In contribution to the Month of September theme Basic Education and Literacy,  Education for future is a Rotary Club of Nkubu initiative based on the need assessment in its neighboring Counties. It is aimed at providing mentorship, life skills, career coaching, and education materials to vulnerable pupils. Girls will be supported with hygiene kits to increase retention, improve performance, and transition because one million girls miss school each month because they cannot afford sanitary pads.

The initiative targets 20 schools in Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Isiolo, Kajiado, and Machakos Counties. The project has so far reached about 1500 students in six schools with mentorship sessions, life skills, and career coaching in two sub-counties Meru and Tharaka Nithi. Rotary Club of Nkubu members has been sensitizing pupils, parents, teaching, and non-teaching staff in schools on the importance of education. The major impact is improved performance, increased retention, and transition. Another impact is increased awareness among parents on parenting skills. More girls are attending schools continually due to sanitary pads availability as opposed to when they missed classes due to periods.  This is the Rotary Club of Nkubu initiative that will cost about $6000 to reach out to 20 schools and will be done in partnership with The parents of specific schools, the teaching staff, local administration, ministry of education, and school board of management.
