Rotary is made up of three parts: Our Clubs, Rotary International, and The Rotary Foundation. Together, we work to make lasting change in our communities and around the world.

About District 9212

Rotary Clubs in one geographical region are clustered into Zones, then Districts.  District 9212 is one of the more than 500 Districts in the world today. It is comprised of clubs in Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea and South Sudan.

About The District Governor

Wairimu Njage is the District Governor for Rotary District 9212 for the year 2025/26 and is a dedicated member of the Rotary Club of Lavington, Nairobi. Her journey in Rotary began as a charter member of the Rotaract Club of Westlands, where she developed a passion for community service and witnessed the significant impact Rotary has in the community.


Throughout her Rotary career, Wairimu has held various leadership positions, including serving as the Club President of the Rotary Club of Lavington Nairobi in 2019/2020. Under her leadership, the club won the Fundraising Award of the Year for the D9212 End Polio Bikeathon and chartered Africa’s first environment-focused Rotary club of Lavington Eco. In 2023/2024, she served as Chair of the Governance and Ethics Committee, playing a crucial role in championing and streamlining governance and ethics across the district. In 2023, she was nominated as the District Governor Nominee and  served as  District Governor Elect iin 2024/25.

 
OUR FUTURE
Effective July 1, 2026, Rotary District 9212 will comprise two new Districts; 9215 and 9216, marking an end to 13 years of District 9212.

District 9215 will comprise of Kenya (Western region, including the Rift Valley and Western Nairobi) and South Sudan. District 9216 will comprise of Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Kenya (Central Highlands and Eastern regions, including Coast region and Eastern Nairobi).


District 9212 currently has 3,727 Rotarians and 2,096 Rotaractors. The District has 110 honorary Rotarians and 141 honorary Rotaractors. There are a total of 267 clubs, comprising of 146 Rotary Clubs and 119 Rotaract Clubs. There are also two satellite Rotary Clubs.

Following consent by 90% of clubs to undertake a redistricting process in 2023/2024, District 9212 submitted to Rotary International a proposal to redistrict for due consideration and approval.

During their October 2024 meeting, the Rotary International Board reviewed the recommendations of the Redistricting Committee and acknowledged the remarkable growth and ongoing efforts within District 9212. As a result, the Board approved the division of District 9212 into two new districts, effective July 1, 2026.
