The event in Mombasa brought together children living with disabilities, their caregivers, volunteers, and partners across Kenya’s Coast region. The event is a key inclusion programme that promotes dignity, visibility, and equal participation for children who are often underserved, especially in rural communities.

This year, the programme reached 3,937 children and 349 caregivers, with support from 600 trained volunteers. Children took part in fun and engaging activities in a safe and accessible environment.

Caregivers received food hampers and encouragement in recognition of the important role they play. The event also strengthened teamwork between Rotarians and Rotaractors and built stronger partnerships with corporate and institutional supporters of disability inclusion.

The success of the fun day was made possible through early planning, organized committees, volunteer training, and good coordination. Transport, meals, medical support, entertainment, and educational activities were provided through corporate sponsorship, Rotary fundraising, Rotary District 9212 support, and member contributions. Clear budgeting and proper management ensured accountability and built trust with donors.

As the Sunshine Rally continues to grow, it is moving beyond a one-day event into a year-round programme. Planned school visits, follow-up support, and early fundraising efforts will help provide continued assistance and create lasting impact for children living with disabilities along Kenya’s Coast.
